Adventures in Changeland
A bizarre game / exploratory interface that teachs the seven steps of change management.
Each step in the process is a different screen, and each screen has three “educational points” revealed through hidden clues.
Used in conjunction with classroom instruction, Adventures in Changeland underscores the main steps / sub-steps within Change Management.
The screen designs are metaphorical. For example, “communicate the urgency” has the character bobbing in a jar of water and sending out a rescue alert
According to where the user is in the game, the music changes to create the mood. Various Easter eggs are spread through the game as well.
Cisco products are used throughout the screens as background elements.
Although we didn't approach this like a traditional game (with a game design document that outlined the intrinsic and extrinsic motivating factors and general game play), it was well received. The project was approached more like a web app, where we identified the key persona needs and, through a series of brainstorms and character discussions, built out each screen.
